F&M Trust donated $2,500 to Hope in the Valley United Methodist Church, which coordinates a backpack program for elementary school students in the Southern Huntingdon County School District. The program also provides hygiene kits for students at Southern Huntingdon County Middle School/High School.

“As a community bank, F&M Trust has a responsibility to support our neighbors,” said Tim Henry, President and CEO of F&M Trust. “We are pleased to make this contribution to Hope in the Valley United Methodist Church, knowing that it will help students and families in Southern Huntingdon County.”

The backpack program serves Rockhill, Shade Gap, and Spring Farms elementary schools and provides 50 students with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food on Friday afternoons that they can eat throughout the weekend. Hope in the Valley UMC uses donations to purchase the food, which is packaged by youth members of the church before it is delivered to the schools.

“They say, ‘it takes a village,’ and it’s true. The amount of people who come together to make this happen is overwhelming,” said Cody Young, a teacher at Spring Farms Elementary School and youth coordinator at Hope in the Valley UMC. “Every time we start to have doubt or worry that we can provide, a check shows up and keeps us going. It’s just amazing.”

In 2021, F&M Trust has donated $75,000 to local schools and community service organizations to assist with COVID relief efforts.
